MINSK, 26 October (BelTA) - Belarus hopes to conclude new contracts to supply equipment to Sudan, Belarus Prime Minister Sergei Rumas said as he met with Sudanese Ambassador to Belarus Nural-Dayem Hamad Al-Neil, BelTA has learned.
“In Sudan we have sent the first batches of tractors, combine harvesters, agricultural machinery made by Boruiskagromash and Lidselmash, and resumed deliveries of MAZ trucks. I would like to hear from you how these machines operate in the hot climate of Sudan. Today, negotiations are underway on a contract to supply Amkodor road-building machines. We have some suggestions regarding other areas. We need to discuss them today to understand what else should be done for these contracts to be signed,” said Sergei Rumas. He also proposed to discuss the progress in the gold mining project in Sudan.
The prime minister noted that the presidents of Belarus and Sudan have set serious tasks before the governments on the development of trade and economic relations. “We have a roadmap. Some of its events are being currently implemented. Today I would like to discuss with you the things we can do to boost trade and economic cooperation between our countries,” he added.
The Belarusian head of government expressed readiness to discuss the ambassador’s proposals on the development of Belarusian-Sudanese relations. “I hope that during your mission in Belarus you will see the potential of our country in industry, agriculture, science and culture,” Sergei Rumas said.
Sudanese Ambassador to Belarus Nural-Dayem Hamad Al-Neil stated that Sudan’s prime minister has reaffirmed the readiness to jointly develop the Belarusian-Sudanese relations and expressed satisfaction with the progress in new contracts and the signed agreements. On behalf of the Sudanese government, the ambassador extended the gratitude to the Development Bank for the assistance in financing joint projects.
