MINSK, 27 November (BelTA) – Midea Group is considering the possibility of setting up a joint venture in Belarus in order to make air conditioners, BelTA learned from Zhang Keyu, President of Midea International Business, a subdivision of Midea Group, on 27 November.
Zhang Keyu said: “We intend to consider the possibility of manufacturing air conditioners in Belarus. We will study the market. Afterwards we will decide how we will develop this business.”
Yuri Predko, Director General of the managing company of the holding company Horizont, also mentioned the production of air conditioners among new joint projects. “We’ve decided to prepare a comprehensive action plan with deadlines and investment figures. Together with Midea Group we will present it for consideration of the government and then the head of state,” he explained.
The 10th anniversary since the establishment of the Belarusian-Chinese joint venture Midea-Horizont was celebrated on 27 November. It was established in 2007 by China’s top household appliances manufacturer Midea Group and the Belarusian holding company Horizont. “Belarus has a good industrial base and qualified personnel. Using these advantages, we’ve secured high quality of products. Midea-Horizont intends to expand the manufacturing business to include large white goods,” noted Zhang Keyu.
Midea Group is one of the largest manufacturers and exporters of household appliances in China and the world. The company makes air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, large kitchen appliances, large and small household appliances, water equipment, lighting solutions, and other things. The company has created a global platform of over 200 daughter enterprises, over 60 foreign branches, and 12 strategic business subdivisions. Midea Group has manufacturing sites in China, Italy, Brazil, Argentina, Egypt, India, Japan, Thailand, and Belarus.
The Belarusian holding company Horizont was established in 2010. It comprises 25 companies, which employ over 7,000 people and specialize in various spheres ranging from household appliances and industrial electronics to civil engineering, logistics, and services.
