SHKLOV, 16 June (BelTA) - The festival in Alexandria celebrates Belarusian culture and folklore, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko told the media on the sidelines of a meeting of the permanent organizing committee for the Kupala Night festival (Alexandria Gathers Friends) in Shklov District, BelTA has learned.
"Every year Alexandria gathers more and more friends," Igor Petrishenko said. “Those who came to Alexandria in previous years are bringing their friends to get a feel of this powerful, friendly and sincere festival, which is held at the initiative of the head of our state. All the flavor of Belarusian culture and folklore is concentrated here. Our famous artists demonstrate their best achievements. It is important that we welcome many friends and colleagues from Russia. According to preliminary data, this year more than 19 regions of the neighboring country will take an active part in our festival."
According to Igor Petrishenko, due attention is paid to young people in the holiday program. This year, the final of the nationwide family agricultural project "Lord of the Village" will traditionally be held during the festival Young families who have proved best in farming will be honored in Alexandria. Work is underway on the creative program but the organizers will not fully reveal the details to keep the intrigue going.
"For the first time this year, we are planning a joint concert with the Russian Federation within the framework of the Union State, before the gala concert," Igor Petrishenko said. “We will also display new Belarusian products from domestic manufacturers, representatives of all regions. We will also highlight the 2nd CIS Games that our country is hosting this year from 4 to 14 August. I would like to emphasize that the Kupala Night festival becomes more diverse and interesting every year."
The Kupala Night festival (Alexandria Gathers Friends) in Shklov District will be held in Shklov District on 8-9 July. Over the years, it has drawn from 50,000 to 100,000 spectators - both Belarusians and foreign guests. The celebration has become a good tradition and will continue in the coming years.
