MINSK, 22 April (BelTA) – Against the backdrop of the unstable global economic system, Belarus views its membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) as a factor of raising the sustainability of the national economy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Igor Petrishenko said as he met with the participants of the Eurasian Public Diplomacy School project at the Business and Cultural Complex of the Belarusian Embassy, BelTA informs.

Belarus presided in the EEU in 2015. Its activities were aimed at the enhancement of good-neighborly relations and the development of economic cooperation. In particular, major industrial cooperation guidelines were passed, Ambassador Igor Petrishenko reminded.

When answering the questions of the participants of the meeting the Ambassador spoke about the efforts of the EEU member states to use common approaches in harmonizing the operation of the key sectors of the economy. The EEU member states are going to do their best to promote the Eurasian process without setting it in opposition to other integration projects. Belarus is in favor of stepping up efforts to finally lift barriers on the way to building the ‘four freedoms’ space: the free movement of goods, services, money, and workforce, Ambassador Igor Petrishenko stressed.

The embassy welcomed 25 young people from the EEU member states and other countries. The event was organized by the public initiative Creative Diplomacy.
