MINSK, 8 April (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has set specific tasks related to propaganda and counter-propaganda, the newly appointed Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Vladimir Pertsov told reporters, BelTA has learned.
“A group of Western states continues to wage an information warfare and a hybrid war against our country. They are testing the waters and looking for new instruments to influence our people. First of all, these instruments include all kinds of digital and artificial technologies and psyop centers. They also use bloggers and other ‘media-related personalities’ on social media, in order to reach out to people, fool them and rile them up. In order to challenge them, we must actively use the techniques that we have learned over the past 3-4 years. They will allow us to effectively push back against the barrage of lies about our country, history, and our president that is pouring from abroad,” said Vladimir Pertsov.
He emphasized that it is also important to highlight all the good things that are being done in the country, to promote cultural and historical values: “We have something to be proud of. We have achievements, a great legacy built by our ancestors. We are descendants of people who won the Great Patriotic War. We must remember this. When we forget about this, they try to put their own spin on our history.”
Vladimir Pertsov noted that a lot has been done over the past 30 years of Belarus’ independence. Today’s Belarus is a far cry from what it was in the early 1990s, when people sometimes struggled to put food on the table. According to him, the most important task is to reach out to people using all possible means of communication - mass media, social media and various platforms, including cinema.
