MINSK, 9 May (BelTA) – Victory Day is a symbol of life, a gift from war veterans to the present generation, Russian Ambassador to Belarus Alexander Surikov told the media on 9 May, BelTA has learned.
“For me and, perhaps for many of us, if not for everybody, it is a life which was presented to us (at least to people of Europe and thee CIS) by the veterans,” Alexander Surikov said.
He expressed his gratitude to the Great Patriotic War heroes who managed to obtain this Victory and give it to their children and grandchildren. “I think that the memory about their feat is eternal,” the diplomat said.
“Young people should know that the war and the Nazism could bring us. They should understand that we escaped this dreadful fate thanks to our veterans,” the ambassador added.
