MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) – The scientists of Belarus and Russia should focus their efforts on projects first of all related to the intellectualization of the economic activity, President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician Alexander Sergeyev said in an interview to Belarus One TV channel, BelTA has learned.
“First of all, we should focus our efforts on projects related to the intellectualization of the economy. These are the matters connected to robotics, efficient and intelligent production management. These are the issues related to our ability to design and forecast the development of a particular enterprise or an entire branch of the economy,” the head of the Russian Academy of Sciences emphasized.
Alexander Sergeyev also touched upon food security of the two countries. “As for the food security, one of the most significant problems here is the construction of modern storage facilities for grain and vegetables. Another important project that we have is the production of organic food products. We have lands which are not so poisoned with fertilizers in comparison with Europe and China. We should use this opportunity to substantially increase the production of organic food products, which have a huge export potential,” he explained.
According to the president of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Russia plans to inject to 2% of GDP in science by 2030. “Half of these funds should be allocated for industry and agriculture. The countries, which examples we are trying to follow, invest in science up to 3-4% of GDP. They have investments coming from industry and economy. We need to go a long way before we reach a self-developing process, when the economy gives money to science, and science produces a quick response and feeds the economy,” he stated.
