MINSK, 19 January (BelTA) - Raubichi can host high-level tournaments thanks to its modern infrastructure, Deputy Director of the National Olympic Center Raubichi Leonid Karas told BelTA.

In 2019, Raubichi will host the IBU Open European Championships in February and also the IBU Summer Biathlon World Championships. “The center is ready to host international competitions of the highest level. Thanks to its recent makeover Raubichi has a well-developed modern infrastructure. In 2015 the center hosted the IBU Youth/Junior World Championships. We have everything necessary for the organization of tournaments compliant with the IBU standards,” Leonid Karas said.

The only thing that can get in the way is weather. “Supposing that next winter is as mild as this year’s, it will be difficult to keep snow on tracks,” the deputy director said.

He added that the construction of a snow storage facility and a ski tunnel at Raubichi is under discussion to provide athletes with the possibility to train in summer.
