ASTANA, 8 November (BelTA) – The Collective Security Treaty Organization is sending a signal to the world to indicate it intends to create a good neighborliness belt, BelTA learned from State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Stanislav Zas after the CSTO summit in Astana, Kazakhstan on 8 November.

The statement was made after the CSTO heads of state decided in favor of legislating the status of CSTO observers and partners. The decision was initiated by Belarus in the past. “By this move we send a signal to the world to indicate the organization is intent on cooperation, on creating a good neighborliness belt. I think the legislation will contribute to tighter cooperation between CSTO member states and other countries,” said Stanislav Zas.

As an important result of the summit Stanislav Zas also mentioned the decision on the regulation on the CSTO crisis response center. The document stipulates organizational and legal provisions for the center’s operation. “It is very important taking into account today’s global situation and the large number of various risks and threats. We need to be able to share information and make the relevant decisions virtually in real time,” he said.

“These two are the most important decisions made today,” stressed the state secretary of the Security Council of Belarus.
