MINSK, 12 April (BelTA) – Belarus is becoming a hub of artificial intelligence in Eastern Europe, Director of the Hi-Tech Park Administration Vsevolod Yanchevsky said as Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko met with representatives of the country’s IT community on 12 April, BelTA has learned.
“Belarus is confidently and rapidly turning into an artificial intelligence hub in the Eastern European region. It is one of the basic and breakthrough areas in the IT sector,” said Vsevolod Yanchevsky.
Almost in every area there are a number of globally competent companies which sell their products and solutions worldwide. “As far as digitization is concerned, the country may fully rely on the Hi-Tech Park in any sphere,” said the director of the Hi-Tech Park Administration.
He added that 268 new residents joined the Hi-Tech Park in 2018. Their number reached 454 by the end of the year. That means that over a year after the adoption of the decree, more companies have joined the Hi-Tech Park than in 12 years of its history. Every company, no matter how old it is, is developing and improving its performance.
The park is home to 56 research and development centers of foreign corporations, including Mapbox (the United States), SK Hynix (Republic of Korea), IAC (the United States), Playtika (Israel).
The Hi-Tech Park has made big contribution to the development of specialized education in the country. Its residents have set up 60 joint research and production laboratories and training centers on the basis of higher educational institutions, and 34 branches of university departments at the sites of the companies both in Minsk and in the regions.
