MINSK, 29 May (BelTA) – Oman seeks to step up trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation with Belarus, Said bin Mubarak Al-Muharrami, a member of the State Council of the Sultanate of Oman and Head of the Oman-Belarus Friendship Group at the State Council, told journalists following the meeting of the parliamentary delegation of Oman with Chair of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova, BelTA reports.
“Our goal is to strengthen inter-parliamentary contacts, yet our plans go further than that. We strive to boost trade, economic and cultural cooperation between our countries. Trade and economy are absolute priorities. There are many investment opportunities in Belarus, and we hope that the Oman Investment Authority will take advantage of these opportunities. We also invite Belarusian businesses to launch operations at free zones of the Sultanate of Oman. Our government offers good preferences to foreign business,” Said bin Mubarak Al-Muharrami noted.
Belarus has a well-developed agriculture, therefore this is a promising area for joint projects, the representative of Oman noted. “We have a strategic free zone that serves as a convenient springboard to enter the markets of the Gulf countries, as well as India, Asia, East Africa. We are also interested in cooperation in education, the exchange of teachers, joint research projects and cultural contacts that will make a meaningful contribution to relations between our nations,” Said bin Mubarak Al-Muharrami emphasized.
