Nuclear power plant to spur development of new technological branches of Belarusian economy

MINSK, 30 March (BelTA) – The launch of the Belarusian nuclear power plant will contribute to the development of new technological branches of the national economy, BelTA learned from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Belarus Alexander Surikov on 30 March.

Speaking about the advancement of Belarusian-Russian relations, Alexander Surikov spoke at length about the Belarusian-Russian project to build the Belarusian nuclear power plant. “As a result of the nuclear power plant’s launch cutting-edge energy-effective technologies and practices will be introduced. New technological economy branches will be developed in Belarus,” stressed the Ambassador.

The diplomat mentioned the high level of manufacturing cooperation between the Belarusian and Russian economies. Manufacturing cooperation levels are as high as 90% in power engineering and 50% in mechanical engineering. Manufacturing cooperation ties connect over 8,000 enterprises in Belarus and Russia. “Among other factors the Union State of Belarus and Russia and its programs, which represent the foundation for interaction between the two countries, have played a major role in improving the economic ties,” said Alexander Surikov.
