Nuclear energy seen as potential driver of Belarus-Uzbekistan cooperation

MINSK, 4 September (BelTA) – Joint projects in nuclear energy can become a breakthrough avenue in the Belarus-Uzbekistan cooperation, Belarus’ Ambassador to Uzbekistan Leonid Marinich said in an interview to the UzA news agency, BelTA has learned.

The diplomat noted that Belarusian R&D and development companies accumulated certain experience in building nuclear energy facilities. The country’s university will train specialists for the upgraded energy system of the country.

“As far as is known, Uzbekistan has plans to build its own nuclear power plant by 2028. Belarusian specialists are ready not only to take part in the very construction of the nuclear power facility in Uzbekistan, but also to supply machinery and equipment and to provide consultative assistance, training and internships for the personnel,” Leonid Marinich said.
