Novitskiy: Every true citizen must be ready to defend the Fatherland

MOSCOW, 22 February (BelTA) – All those who care about their native land are by right considered fatherland defenders, Pilot-Cosmonaut, Hero of Russia, native of Belarus Oleg Novitskiy said as he extended Fatherland Defenders Day greetings to his compatriots, BelTA has learned.

“The well-known saying ‘Defending your fatherland is just another profession’ does not apply to active-duty officers only. It applies to every person who cares about the fatherland, native land, and loved ones,” Oleg Novitskiy said.

The pilot-cosmonaut wished the Belarusian people to keep the memory of the feat of their ancestors, the defenders of the Fatherland. “Belarus has always been the most reliable western outpost. We must be worthy descendants, pass this memory on to our children, cultivate the love of native land,” he said.
