MINSK, 13 June (BelTA) – The invigoration of the Normandy format will give a considerable impulse to the operation of the trilateral contact group on Ukraine in Minsk, BelTA learned from the OSCE’s special representative in the trilateral contact group on Ukraine Martin Sajdik on 13 June.
A Normandy Four meeting at the level of the ministers of foreign affairs took place in Berlin the other day. The sides once again confirmed their adherence to the Minsk agreements and the peaceful resolution of the conflict. “I am convinced that the invigoration of the Normandy format at various levels will give a considerable political impulse to our work here, in Minsk,” said Martin Sajdik.
The OSCE representative also mentioned several important tendencies. The number of civilian victims has been decreased by 55% this year in comparison with the same period of last year, said the diplomat. Yet Martin Sajdik stated with regret that one more child has died this year in comparison with 2017.
Martin Sajdik reminded about the restored operation of the Donetsk water filtering station. All the work has been done only thanks to security guarantees given to the workers, he said. The matter was discussed by the subgroup on security on 13 June. The subgroup also discussed matters relating to the separation of forces and assets.
