MINSK, 10 July (BelTA) – Belarusians are the friendliest people in the world, First Lady of Nigeria Oluremi Tinubu said as she met with Chair of the Council of the Republic, the upper chamber of Belarus’ parliament, Natalya Kochanova in Minsk on 10 July, BelTA has learned.
According to Oluremi Tinubu, she came to a very warm welcome to Belarus. “I did not expect such a reception. I am overwhelmed with emotions. All the meetings that I have already had in your country - with the Belarusian Women's Union, the education minister - all proceeded in a very cordial environment. You are the friendliest nation I have ever seen, though I have been to many countries throughout my life,” noted Oluremi Tinubu. “It is a tradition in Belarus when men give flowers to women. When I arrived in Belarus, I was immediately greeted by a man with a bouquet of flowers, and I was surprised. Later on, I received more flowers when I took part in various meetings. I said to myself: we need to introduce a similar tradition in our country,” the first lady remarked.
The guest spoke highly of Belarusian food products. “I was impressed by your food – it is very healthy. I enjoy Belarusian food and understand why agriculture is the pride of your country,” she added.
