MINSK, 2 October (BelTA) – New cooperation agreements and multimillion export contracts will be signed at the 5th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich said at the opening of the autumn session on 2 October, BelTA has learned.
The 5th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, organized by the Council of the Republic and the Federation Council, will take place in Mogilev and Mogilev Oblast on 10-12 October 2018. Attending the forum will be Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“We have high expectations from the forum. Plans are in place to sign new agreements on cooperation between regions and also conclude multimillion commercial export contracts,” said Mikhail Myasnikovich.
Applications to take part in the forum have been so far received from 21 governors and 16 representatives of the authorities of Russian regions, he added.
The chairman of the Council of the Republic noted that important decisions on key issues of bilateral cooperation were made at the meeting of the presidents of Belarus and Russia in Sochi on 21 September. “The task for MPs is to ensure legislative empowering of these decisions. The Forum of Regions will promote the strengthening of the Sochi agreements,” Mikhail Myasnikovich stressed.
