MINSK, 21 January (BelTA) – Belarus is always ready for constructive cooperation with any foreign partners, Andrei Savinykh, the Chairman of the Standing Committee on International Affairs of the House of Representatives, told reporters on 21 January, BelTA has learned.

“First of all, I would like to emphasize that Belarus’ foreign policy is based on principles, not on relations. We are always ready - this is our foreign policy principle - for constructive cooperation with any foreign partners. Naturally, the Biden administration will be no exception. The future will show to what extent the American side will be able to go to respond constructively to our proposal. Nevertheless, without any doubt, we will maintain a dialogue with a view to strengthening trust, cooperation and communication,” Andrei Savinykh said.

The parliamentarian also commented on the decision to relocate the 2021 Ice Hockey World Championship from Minsk. “Unfortunately, we see more and more often that the principles of Realpolitik, when the strong determines the rules of the game, underpin decisions not only in politics, but also in sport, culture and other fields of international relations. This is an extremely negative trend. Sooner or later we will have to move away from it. Nevertheless, it is still in place,” he added.
