MINSK, 11 October (BelTA) – Moscow supports Minsk’s call to draw up a declaration on non-deployment of medium- and shorter-range missiles in Europe, Russia President Vladimir Putin said at the CIS summit in Ashgabat, BelTA learned from the Russian news agency TASS.
“We welcome Belarus’ idea to draw up a multilateral declaration on non-deployment of medium- and shorter-range missiles in Europe put forward at the 74th UN General Assembly,” Vladimir Putin noted. “It is in line with Russia’s initiatives,” he added.
Vladimir Putin also spoke about the upcoming NATO military exercise. “We do not approve of this and believe that this is wrong, but we will react calmly. We will consult with you about this matter,” Vladimir Putin said.
NATO plans to carry out the Defender Europe 2020 exercise in April-May 2020. The exercise will involve 18 countries and will take place in ten European countries, including Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia.
