MINSK, 14 October (BelTA) - Cooperation in the spiritual sphere between Belarus and the United States has been more active recently, Spiritual Diplomacy Foundation President Mikhail Morgulis said as he met with Belarus’ Commissioner for Religious and Ethnic Affairs Leonid Gulyako, BelTA learned from the Office of the Commissioner for Religious and Ethnic Affairs.
Mikhail Morgulis noted that he always viewed Belarus as a country of high spiritual tolerance. He stressed that the relations between the United States and Belarus have been developing more actively, including in the areas of spiritual cooperation. He also thanked Leonid Gulyako for the devotion to the spiritual traditions. According to him, the spiritual and political concept behind the "spiritual diplomacy" involves solving all conflicts in the world, among and within countries with the help of the spiritual values of the conflicting parties.
For his part, Leonid Gulyako told the guest about the main activities of the Office of the Commissioner, stressing that the priority areas of Belarus’ state policy in the confessional area are maintaining relations of tolerance and mutual respect, openness and willingness to engage in a dialogue with religious organizations of all denominations.
At the end of the meeting, Leonid Gulyako thanked Mikhail Morgulis for attention to Belarus and considerable contribution to the development of peace initiatives.
