MINSK, 1 November (BelTA) - Belarus’ five-day visa-free program has contributed to a significant increase in the number of tourists from the United States to Belarus, U.S. Charge d’affaires Robert Riley told the media, BelTA has learned.
“The five-day visa-free program in Belarus has contributed to a significant increase in the number of visitors from the United States to Belarus. For example, my family has invited two groups of our friends who have already visited the country,” Robert Riley said.
The diplomat also commented on the possible introduction of a visa-free regime by the United States for Belarus nationals. “Anyone versed in the U.S. visa system knows that the process of accession to the list of the states whose nationals do not need a visa to visit the United States is very complex and long. Typically this is due to the studies which are conducted by numerous state agencies of the United States. I can not call it impossible that someday we will be discussing this topic with the Belarusian government. But this process is very very long and complicated,” the diplomat said.
