Moldova eager to expand trade, economic relations with Belarus

CHISINAU, 30 June (BelTA) – Moldova is eager to expand the trade and economic relations with Belarus and set up joint ventures, Moldovan President Igor Dodon said as he met with a Belarusian delegation of members of the Party of Labor and Justice, BelTA has learned.

The press service of the Moldovan head of state reported that the Belarusian delegation visited Moldova at the invitation of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM) to attend events to celebrate the 20th anniversary of PSRM’s establishment.

The parties discussed a range of matters, most of them were related to the relations between Belarus and Moldova. Igor Dodon said that Belarus’ development pace exceeds that of some countries of the European Union. “You managed to preserve all the good things created in the Soviet times, and came up with new, modern and effective models of successful development, economic and social progress,” the Moldovan leader noted.

Igor Dodon said that Moldova is interested in strengthening cooperation in all areas of mutual interest placing focus on the trade and economic relations. He pointed out that Belarus and Moldova could establish joint enterprises in agriculture, tractor assembly, and winemaking.

The president said that he will pay an official visit to Belarus in July. He expects that the visit will give a new impetus to the relations between the two countries.

Igor Dodon extended Independence Day greetings to the Belarusian people and wished Belarus all the best.
