MINSK, 6 August (BelTA) - EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Fredrica Mogherini is set to visit Belarus in October, Head of the EU Delegation to Belarus Andrea Wiktorin said during a meeting with Belarus Prime Minister Sergei Rumas, BelTA has learned.
“Federica Mogherini is going to visit Minsk in October. Belarus Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei and I discussed the date of the visit,” Andrea Wiktorin said.
In her view, the progress that has been made in the relations between Belarus and the European Union can be truly described as considerable. “I believe that as long as we hear each other, we will be able to find solutions to any problems,” said the head of the EU Delegation to Belarus.
Andrea Wiktorin noted that high-level visits to Belarus have become more frequent, the country is active in the Eastern Partnership and Brussels appreciates this very much.
She also welcomed the efforts of Belarus to resolve the situation in Ukraine. “Belarus takes a constructive stance on the crisis in Ukraine, has played a constructive role in its settlement, and the entire European Commission recognizes that role. This contributes to the establishment and strengthening of peace,” Andrea Wiktorin noted.
