“The Czech industry is ready to take part in the modernization of the Belarusian industry,” said Jan Mladek.

According to the minister, Belarus’ exports have been on a gradual decline since 2014. At the same time he expressed hope that it is a temporary phenomenon and stressed that “cooperation opportunities expand with the relations between Belarus and the European Union warming up.”

Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vladimir Ulakhovich noted that the interest from all central European countries to Belarus has been reviving over the recent two years. In his words, there is a good basis for the development of the Belarusian-Czech cooperation. “Today Czech companies work in Belarus on petrochemical facilities, cooperate in energy and agriculture,” Vladimir Ulakhovich said.

In the last year regional cooperation between the two countries have made a considerable breakthrough. “Promising projects are being implemented in all the oblasts of the country: Gomel, Polotsk, Novogrudok, Borisov, Bobruisk,” said Vladimir Ulakhovich.

The Belarusian-Czech business forum will discuss issues of business cooperation and opportunities of expanding cooperation between companies of the two countries. The forum will also comprise business talks. The Czech delegation includes 25 companies interested in establishing and expanding business ties with Belarusian companies in energy, mechanical engineering, industrial construction, machine-tool industry, electrical technology, insurance, legal services and others. More than 70 Belarusian companies are taking part in the forum.
