Minsk praised as venue for General Assembly of International Electrotechnical Commission

MINSK, 5 February (BelTA) – The General Assembly of the International Electrotechnical Commission in Minsk will be successful. The confidence was expressed by Sophie Chardon, coordinator of the central office of the International Electrotechnical Commission in Geneva, BelTA has learned.

“All the six or seven hotels that we have examined in Minsk are very good. Everything is also fine as far as venues for sessions are concerned. We are confident that the General Assembly of the International Electrotechnical Commission in Minsk will be successful,” stated Sophie Chardon.

In her words, the requirements are very high. Minsk will have to welcome over 1,000 delegates from all the countries of the world. “It is necessary to enable proper reception, accommodation. It is necessary to make sure that venues for the sessions are on par. It is quite a difficult task for the host country to accomplish,” noted Sophie Chardon.

The 79th General Assembly of the International Electrotechnical Commission will take place in Minsk on 5-16 October 2015. It will be a large-scale forum for the economic, scientific, and technical life of the country and the entire world. The assembly is kind of a technological competition that will gather representatives of the world’s top manufacturers ranging from engineers and medium-level managers to top managers, high-ranking officers of ministries and agencies. The general assemblies are held in high-profile countries with well-developed high-tech industries and in the regions the International Electrotechnical Commission deems promising. The Commission comprises 164 countries, including Belarus.
