MINSK, 20 May (BelTA) – The 9th edition of the international defense technology expo MILEX 2019 was bigger than all the previous editions of the expo, Chairman of the Belarusian State Military Industrial Committee Roman Golovchenko told the ONT TV channel, BelTA has learned.
“The scale of this year’s expo was many times bigger than that of all the previous expos, first of all, in terms of the number of machinery and weapons showcased by the Belarusian defense industry. If we compare this year’s expo with the one that took place two years ago, we will see a huge difference in the number of exhibits. This is a testimony to significant progress,” Roman Golovchenko said.
According to him, many visitors did not expect to see such a big expo. The biggest draw was the exposition of Belarusian small arms.
One of the main surprises of the expo was the display of new Belarusian missile systems, including the new air defense missile system Buk. “Now that we have this system, new low-altitude radars, we can say that we have completed the formation of our own national air defense system,” Roman Golovchenko said.
Apart from that, the expo featured remote weapons stations and cybersecurity products and technology.
