MINSK, 12 May (BelTA) – Belarusian mass media are developing in the context of global trends, Belarusian Deputy Information Minister Vladimir Matusevich told reporters on 12 May at the opening of the journalism summer school held as part of the 11th Belarusian international media forum Partnership for the Future, BelTA has learned.
Vladimir Matusevich noted that the information space in Belarus is experiencing a strong and dynamic growth today. “The world rankings attest to this. For example, the International Telecommunication Union has ranked Belarus 36th in terms of Internet penetration, ahead of all the other CIS member states and such countries as Lithuania, Latvia, Turkey and Bulgaria. That is yet another demonstration of the fact that Belarusian mass media are competitive and creative and that they are successfully developing in the context of global trends,” the official emphasized.
He added that the media space is changing fast. The Internet and social networks are evolving at a rapid pace. “Despite all the changes, high-quality journalism, professionalism, journalistic craftsmanship and the culture of conveying texts and ideas will never lose their relevance,” Vladimir Matusevich stressed.
