MINSK, 20 September (BelTA) — Our opponents are doing everything to put the brakes on the inflow of truthful information from and about Belarus, Belarusian Information Minister Marat Markov said during the plenary session of the international conference "International standards of electoral process: Experience and development prospects" in Minsk on 20 September, BelTA has learned.

"In the run-up to the 2025 presidential election campaign, for the first time in the history of sovereign Belarus, we have launched two new media tools: a 24-hour news TV channel together with the news.by website and the country's first multimedia platform VIDEOBEL.BY, which safeguards of the video content of Belarus' mass media from the whims of foreign hosting services," Marat Markov said.

The minister noted that Facebook, TikTok and Instagram can shut down Belarus' TV channels and media at any time. YouTube arbitrarily blocks channels with millions of subscribers. "Opponents strive to limit the flow of truthful information from and about Belarus," he emphasized. "We do not control western-led information tools. Therefore, the president made the right decision to create Belarus' own OTT-platform bringing together the main social and political programs of our leading mass media outlets. This is a very important image-building project for the country."
