MINSK, 4 September (BelTA) – The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has supported a number of initiatives on scientific and cultural cooperation put forward by the Belarusian community in Russia. The matter was discussed in a meeting of Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei with Sergei Kandybovich, Chairman of the Federal National and Cultural Autonomy of Belarusians in Russia, and Deputy Chairman Valery Kazakov on 4 September, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian ministry.
Vladimir Makei voiced support for a number of initiatives intended to strengthen the scientific and cultural ties between Belarus and Belarusians living in Russia. Besides, the parties discussed the activities of the Belarusian community in Russia and the implementation of joint projects, the press service added.
Sergei Kandybovich and Valery Kazakov emphasized the importance of the establishment of the consultative council for the affairs of Belarusians abroad at the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs that held its first session in July 2015.
