MINSK, 1 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian side is optimistic about the development of relations with the European Union (EU), Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told reporters on 1 March, BelTA informs.
“I am optimistic about the development of our relations with the European Union. We are doing our best to facilitate visa regulations with the EU. I cannot say that there are no urgent issues. There is a problem we need to discuss, and we are discussing it with our European partners,” Vladimir Makei said.
He remarked that about a month ago the Belarusian delegation paid a visit to Brussels to discuss the issues connected with the simplification of visa regulations between Belarus and the European Union. “Unfortunately, we cannot disregard certain issues, especially in the current situation connected with the inflow of a big number of migrants to Europe. Therefore, when holding the talks on the visa regime with the EU, we must, first of all, take into account the challenges and threats which can have negative consequences for Belarus, and we are doing it,” the Belarusian minister of foreign affairs added.
