MINSK, 25 January (BelTA) – Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei and French Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development Jean-Marc Ayrault exchanged messages on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations, BelTA learned from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.
“In my opinion, Belarus and France share the bright pages of the history and outstanding personalities, vast experience of cooperation in various industries, common understanding of the main challenges, and the interest in maintaining peace and stability on the continent and throughout the world. This provides a solid foundation for further development of the relations between our countries based on the principles of equality and mutual respect. I am confident that today the relations see the most favorable context in recent years, which should be used fully to deepen and intensify bilateral cooperation in the name of prosperity and well-being of our peoples,” Vladimir Makei said.
The Belarusian minister's message to his French counterpart was handed over by Belarusian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to France Pavel Latushko to Mr Eric Danon, Deputy Director General for Political Affairs and Security at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs during a meeting in the Hall of Ceremonies at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development.
A message of greetings from the French Minister was given to the Belarusian side during a meeting between Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Kravchenko and French Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Didier Canesse.
During the meetings, the parties noted the positive experience and the momentum in the development of the Belarusian-French relations, confirmed mutual interest in deepening the bilateral cooperation in various fields and discussed a number of activities planned for the anniversary year.
