MINSK, 7 November (BelTA) – Belarus is a reliable contributor to the international security, Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said in the documentary film “National Security. Reliability Factor”. The film premiered on the Belarus One TV channel on 7 November, BelTA has learned.
“Belarus causes problems to no one in Europe. We do not hold territorial demands against any of our neighbors, not to speak of the non-CIS countries. Belarus is a reliable contributor to the international security,” stressed the minister. In his words, Belarus has every chance to implement any political, economic, and humanitarian areas which are of interest to the country.
The film, which is a joint project of the television broadcaster VoyenTV and the analytical center ECOOM, tells little-known and forgotten facts, demonstrates expert opinions on the history of the development of the Belarusian model of national security in the political sphere. Talking about the foreign and domestic policies of Belarus was Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei, Head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, First Deputy Defense Minister of Belarus Major General Oleg Belokonev, Deputy Chairman of the Permanent Commission on International Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Igor Marzalyuk, Chairman of the Union of Writers of Belarus Nikolai Cherginets, diplomats, Belarusian, Russian and Polish political analysts.
At the example of Ukrainian events and Belarus’ contribution to the stabilization of the situation in the neighboring country reporters jointly with experts assess the country’s role in strengthening the international security system and analyze what stands behind the thesis “Belarus is a donor of the European regional security”. Thus, Igor Marzalyuk while commenting on the results of the Minsk Normandy Four Meetings on Ukraine, noted: “Belarus demonstrates its policy of peace. The Minsk Meetings which took place thanks to the personal initiative of the President of Belarus, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the EU interest led to a relative truce. We have seen a light at the end of the tunnel.” The senator stressed that the Normandy Four meetings promoted the growth of the trust in the Belarusian state and the removal of the stereotypes that were popular in the European Union for the past 15 years.
The film also mentions facts and expert opinions on the attempts to destabilize the situation in Belarus in 2011. Another one, through the social network, failed in 2011. However, such attempts intensified in Belarus on the back of the Ukrainian crisis. “Particular forces are created to set forth political demands to the government, the parliament. The same was in Yugoslavia, Georgia, Ukraine. There is no place here for the Maidan. Our people will not do this,” said the Chairman of the Union of Writers of Belarus.
Commenting on the nature of color revolutions, head of the analytical center ECOOM Sergei Musiyenko noted that “it is a war for heads and minds of people, it is a different type of war.” “It is underway and we often forget about it. We take a serious and attentive look at the situation in the world. We make conclusions from the events if Libya, Syria,” he said.
The reporters of the TV channel stress that Belarus is a full-fledged member of the international community, a democratic and legal state, a donor of the regional international security, a responsible and predictable partner.
