MINSK, 13 March (BelTA) – Objective, balanced and constructive position of Vatican to Belarus is appreciated in the country, Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei said as he met with Vatican Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin on 13 March, BelTA has learned.
According to Vladimir Makei, the visit of the cardinal to Belarus testifies to the development of cooperation between Vatican City State and Belarus. The relations of Belarus and Vatican rely on mutual understanding and trust. “Vatican is a special partner for us in international relations, and the approaches of Vatican to the resolution of issues of the present-day society are appreciated by the Belarusian people,” he said.
The minister remarked that the cardinal’s visit is a landmark event for Belarus and expressed hope that it will help promote relations in all walks of life.
“The visit to Belarus will help me learn more about the country and its people,” Vatican Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin said. He extended greetings from the Pope to public administration bodies, people, religious communities and, first of all, Roman-Catholic believers. The cardinal emphasized that the approach of the Holy See to the formation of international relations is open. He expressed confidence that the relations of Belarus and Vatican will be increasingly vibrant.
