KAZAN, 23 October (BelTA) - China is the main pillar of BRICS, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said in an interview with the Chinese TV channel CGTN on 23 October, BelTA has learned.
“If we assess BRICS and China as a whole, I can hardly imagine BRICS without China. China is a power. We can put it straight that it has already become the world’s leading country. Well, okay, it is second after the United States. I personally believe it is the first one. It is definitely the first country especially keeping in mind the progress that China is making today. China is an advantage for SCO or BRICS. It is one of the pillars, the main pillar of this organization. Therefore, BRICS should be happy with cooperation with China, happy that China is a member of this organization,” the head of state said.
Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that BRICS is a young organization and it is still developing and evolving. “Everything is just beginning. The processes are turbulent in the world, and it is good that there is such an organization. China is invaluable for the perspective, for the development of this organization,” the president said.
He also mentioned India’s membership in BRICS, which is now gaining momentum. “These are gigantic locomotives. With the Russian Federation, this is the world's treasure trove of resources,” the Belarusian leader added.
