MINSK, 8 August (BelTA) — The fight against terrorism is one of the most important tasks for the internal affairs bodies in the CIS, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said during a meeting with the participants of the CIS Internal Affairs Ministers Council in Minsk on 8 August, BelTA has learned.
The president described countering both internal and international terrorism, which has been increasingly spreading in the wake of the West's (primarily the United States') activity in Ukraine as one of the most important tasks for the CIS member states and their Interior Ministries. “It is not Ukraine but the United States that calls the shots there," Aleksandr Lukashenko pointed out.
"The fight against terrorism is the most important task for us. I always say: we cannot do without police. The KGB, the Defense Ministry, or the power vertical, which is very tough in our country, cannot do without police," the president stressed. He noted that everyone in the Interior Ministry has complete information about the operational environment in the country. A lot depends on their work and thoughtful actions in any country. "The main thing is to get the information in advance. When we receive it from you, we start acting," Aleksandr Lukashenko explained.
The president emphasized that international terrorism uses the latest technologies and media resources to promote its activity. "An effective fight against it requires a comprehensive approach. It includes political, social, economic measures, development of international cooperation, information exchange. Only together we will be able to counter it," Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
