Lukashenko urges to debureaucratize all systems in Belarus

MINSK, 11 June (BelTA) – It is essential to prevent red tape and excessive formalism while improving the institute of administrative procedures, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he convened a meeting to discuss legal aspects of economic activity on 11 June, BelTA informs.

Speaking about the revision of administrative procedures, the head of state focused on the consequences of such efforts. “Can such revision cause excessive formalism and, what is even worse, red tape and chicanery at the level of agencies or the local level? We must prevent it. We must do our best to debureaucratize all systems and schemes which are used in the country. This is the priority,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed. In his words, the procedure of passing law and legal acts sometimes involves too much red tape and adjustments. “We have forgotten the one-stop-shop principle,” the Belarusian leader added.

At the meeting the president also spoke about the electronic interaction between state administration bodies and economic operators. “Will the digitization help reduce costs and avoid corruption causes?” the head of state wondered. “I want to warn you: we don’t need such changes for the sake of popularity, for example, digitization, computer automation, iPhones and so on. Such changes are good when they benefit us and when our people, not just 15-20% of the population, understand it. It is good when people appreciate it. Therefore, we should not be in a hurry and should not be too slow.”
