MINSK, 23 November (BelTA) - Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko urged to handle the issue with housing waiting lists for families with many children within two years. He made the statement at the republican conference on measures to raise the efficiency of the Belarusian construction industry on 23 November, BelTA informs.
“In fact, we have dealt with the common waiting list, and the number of people waiting for housing improvement is decreasing every year, while the number of families with many children waiting for new apartments is on the rise,” the Belarusian leader emphasized.
In his words, over the past two years the number of such families increased by 8,500. Besides, the instruction to start building homes for large families on the waiting list within a year is not fulfilled. As of the beginning of 2018, housing construction was started for 25,000 out of 34,000 families with many children, almost 7,000 families are waiting for their housing for more than three years.
According to Alexander Lukashenko, this situation is inadmissible. He instructed the government, oblast executive committees and the Minsk City Hall to increase the volume of housing construction for such families. “Together with banks determine the necessary sources of financing, handle the issue with waiting lists within two years, and make sure that large families wait for their housing not more than a year as envisaged in decree No. 13,” the head of state said.
