Lukashenko urges Belarusians to keep their guard up

KLIMOVICHI, 16 November (BelTA) – Those willing to tear Belarus apart and seize it are many, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a ceremony to honor agricultural workers at the Dazhynki harvest festival in the town of Klimovichi, Mogilev Oblast, on 16 November, BelTA has learned.

“Those willing to tear Belarus apart and seize it are many. The moment we get complacent, we will be wiped off the world map. As I have already said, we will bring the country to an ideal state within the next five years,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

In his words, the best-performing enterprises should help the ones that are lagging behind. The president emphasized the importance of this at the previous Dazhynki festival in Polotsk. “Every district has this beacon, look up to it. The chairpersons of the district executive committee should be involved in the matter to the fullest. In the near future we will revisit the legislative acts, decrees or laws, approve and confirm their authority so that the chairpersons of the district executive committee know what to do and what they are responsible for,” the head of state stressed.

The coat of arms and flag of Klimovichi depicts a golden bee - an iconic symbol of hard-working nature of local residents, Aleksandr Lukashenko added. “Our country may lack as much oil and gas as we need, but we all have our own piece of land. And there are outstanding people here. I never get tired of repeating that this is our main asset. This is something that other countries lack,” the Belarusian leader said. “They ask us to help them have such people. We are meeting them halfway.”
