Lukashenko: Unity is main condition for development of Belarusian nation

MINSK, 17 September (BelTA) – Belarusians are united in their desire to live in their native land charting their own course. Unity is the main condition for the development of the nation, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a ceremony to mark the Day of People’s Unity at Minsk Arena on 17 September, BelTA has learned.

The head of state recalled that 85 years ago, it was the liberation campaign of the Red Army that gave start to the revival of the lost internal integrity of the Fatherland. "Since then, the Belarusian people have gone through many trials, creating a unique space for dreams and for life at the crossroads of civilizations and paving the way to happiness in the continuous struggle for freedom, a better life and home," the president said. “Belarusians passed each of the stages of this difficult path with dignity, relying on love for peace and truth, justice and patriotism, mutual respect and good neighborliness. Please note we did not rely on conquest, cruelty or superiority in relation to other countries and peoples."

Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that it was the unity of Belarusians that allowed the nation to survive and overcome many difficulties. "We are united in the desire to live in our native land charting our own course. Unity for us is the main condition for the development of the nation," the head of state said. "Therefore, we survived the brown plague, the turbulent 1990s, the pandemic, the attempts at color revolutions, predatory sanctions and military threats."
