SVETLOGORSK, 14 February (BelTA) – It is essential to revise certain approaches and conditions for raising foreign investments in Belarus, President Aleksandr Lukashenko said during the visit to Svetlogorsk Pulp and Board Mill on 14 February, BelTA has learned.
In particular, the president mentioned business conditions in free economic zones when the state receives virtually no budget revenues from taxes for a very long period of time. Of course, additional jobs are created, but this issue, according to Aleksandr Lukashenko, is less urgent today.
“We need to focus on practical aspects more. If you want to work here, you are welcome, but you will work like all other plants will work – you will pay taxes, income taxes,” the head of state said. “Any jobs should generate profit.
“This is a strategic issue. Stop dragging businessmen from all over the world and boasting about investments. The country sees almost nothing from these investments. Do not compare it with the IT park. This is an ultramodern sphere, it is not for everybody. And in order to keep them here, of course, we support will support this park, we help them and do other things,” the Belarusian leader concluded.
