Lukashenko plans to meet with IT specialists

Lukashenko plans to meet with IT specialists

MINSK, 4 April (BelTA) – I have plans to hold a meeting with representatives of the IT sector, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said on 4 April as he heard out a report on the draft decree to set up a state administration body in digital development and informatization issues, BelTA has learned.

“Some time ago we set up a High-Tech Park. It played its role and is playing it now. I would like you to touch upon this topic today and inform me what is going on in this park, what is a brain drain trend there. As I am informed, there is such an outflow of personnel that tomorrow Belarus will cease to exist without IT specialists,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

The president voiced his plans to hold a meeting with representatives of the IT-sector, working in the HTP, and to make a number of decisions. “Some IT specialists are leaving the country and their number may be big. We need to look at the matter from the security point of view, how dangerous it is for Belarus. We also need to look into the IT technology, IT parks and IT specialists so as to ensure a level playing field for everyone. The time has come to address these issues,” the head of state stressed.
