MINSK, 27 August (BelTA) – Attempts are being made to discredit the Belarusian education system. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the relevant statement during the Nationwide Conference on Teaching on 27 August, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “It is not surprising that external pressure on us is getting stronger. We see all the attempts to discredit the Belarusian education system. But I wonder why they seek our graduates and why they lure our graduates to their own countries if our education is so bad. The answer is obvious. Our young neighbors – Lithuanians, Latvians, Poles, and Estonians – left their countries in search of fortune in other European countries and across the ocean a long time ago. Now these neighbors and other ones need our kids.”
In his words, it is a challenge for Belarus and it is the education system that has to respond to it. “It is an imperative. And at the same time it is an area of my work and yours,” the head of state said.
