MINSK, 30 October (BelTA) - It is extremely important for Belarus to maintain the political-diplomatic balance in the relations with Moscow and Kiev, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said during the conference for Belarusian army officers on 30 October, BelTA has learned.
The head of state underlined that Kiev's determination to continue confrontation with Moscow which is fueled from outside is of particular concern. “It has already been formalized at the legislative level. In particular, the new Ukrainian military doctrine names Russia a military adversary,” said Alexander Lukashenko.
He believes that for the first time there is a conflict in the post-Soviet space, the development of which, without any exaggeration, directly affects the security of Belarus. "In these circumstances, it is extremely important for us to maintain the political-diplomatic balance in the relations with Moscow and Kiev. In any situation, we should not be caught up in their confrontation,” the President said.
Alexander Lukashenko stated that Belarus’ active and efficient participation in resolving the Ukrainian crisis was welcomed and supported by the international community. The President, who is directly responsible for the security of the country, pledged to make every effort to keep these positions, based on the national interests.
