MINSK, 31 August (BelTA) – The first steps in elite sport can be made at school, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he visited secondary school No. 56 in Minsk on 31 August, BelTA has learned.
The head of state visited the gym where students had a PE lesson. He also visited the wrestling hall and the swimming pool. Alexander Lukashenko had a warm conversation with young athletes and their coaches. The President said that such good conditions will help students make big achievements in sport. In particular he said: “The school provides good conditions not only for the first steps in sport but also for big sports achievements.”
The new school in the Kamennaya Gorka residential district will operate ten Olympic reserve winter sport sections and a martial arts section of Olympic reserve school No. 7.
Belarus President and President of the National Olympic Committee Alexander Lukashenko presented sports gear to the school.
