MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) – The teacher is the central figure in the Belarusian society, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with Belarus Education Minister Igor Karpenko on 26 August to hear out his report, BelTA has learned.
The head of state noted that teachers sometimes complain about having to deal with paperwork and take on activities other than classes. “I have a mixed opinion on this. Of course, teachers should be relieved of excessive amounts of self-evaluation and other reports. But they should not forget that their work is not limited to the school. The teacher is the central figure in our society. The teacher is a knowledgeable person and, together with the doctor, is like a beacon, especially in small towns, villages and agro-towns. Teachers should spread knowledge, educate people, so they should not complain about hardships,” the president said.
“The nation counts on teachers and so do I. We are nothing without them, because people have no one else to rely on in the modern times, especially in villages and small towns,” Aleksandr Lukashenko added.
