TBILISI, 23 March (BelTA) – It is necessary to make personnel training a priority in efforts to advance Belarus-Georgia cooperation. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the statement as he met with Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili on 23 March, BelTA has learned.
The head of state remarked that fundamental agreements had been signed the day before and once again underlined the active role Georgia plays in advancing the bilateral relations. “We have agreed that we will not limit our cooperation to simple trade and joint ventures. We have agreed to train workforce,” stressed Alexander Lukashenko.
“We will expand this aspect of cooperation as far as you need it. It is easy to sell machines, equipment, and technologies but if the local people lack the necessary competences, the future looks bleak,” pointed out Alexander Lukashenko.
The president also believes it is important to pour efforts into localization when joint ventures are established. Well-trained workforce is necessary for it, too. “This is why the key agreement reads that technologies should be followed by people, who have to be trained,” said the head of state.
Belarus is also ready to assist Georgia with developing its agriculture, including with modern technologies and by setting up research centers.
