MINSK, 13 April (BelTA) – We need to have a strategic program for ten to fifteen years in every sport, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko noted at a meeting held on 13 April to discuss the development of winter sports, BelTA has learned.
“We need to have a strategic program for ten to fifteen years in every sport. We should look forward rather than narrow down to Olympic cycles,” the president said.
He warned that those who carelessly spend the sports budget will be held accountable.
“Do not wait for instructions. The chairman of the federation, the head of the supervisory council, and the national team head coach are the three persons in charge of developing a specific sport. Take the necessary decisions within the legal framework and the limits of the budget appropriations. Make money on your own and go ahead!” Alexander Lukashenko said.
He stressed that all instructions had been given to provide the trainees with everything they need: skis, binding, and equipment. Over the summer, every ski center must be fitted with snow generators and snow groomers. “We will produce everything we can in our country. These instructions must be fulfilled to the fullest extent and on time. The government will take this task under control,” the head of state noted.
