MINSK, 12 January (BelTA) – Culture is the basis for the formation and development of every nation that determines its viability and creative potential, Alexander Lukashenko said at the ceremony to present the President’s awards For Spiritual Revival and special prizes to Belarusian art luminaries, and also the President’s special prizes Belarusian Sports Olympus to renowned athletes on 12 January, BelTA has learned.
“Culture lies at the heart of the state ideology, provides the guidelines and sets the goals for the society. This multifaceted phenomenon embraces many aspects of life, including our work, daily life, attitude to nature, the surrounding world and the native land,” the head of state believes.
Alexander Lukashenko stressed that is it important to remember that culture is also a measure for humanity. Neither a person, nor a society can exist happily without it.
The President said that today people need humanity, mercy, kindness and understanding. “Without a thoughtful, wise attitude to life, without moral criteria relying on the centuries-old experience of our ancestors, it is impossible to build a stable and prosperous country,” the Belarusian leader emphasized.
