BISHKEK, 28 November (BelTA) – The CSTO has potential for stabilizing the situation in the world, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko told reporters after the CSTO summit in Bishkek on 28 November, BelTA informs.
“You have said the right things that our world is a turbulent place. It is clear what you mean when using this word. Therefore, it is good to have as many organizations which are capable of stopping this turbulent stream as possible. The CSTO is one of the strongest organizations which will help stabilize the situation in the world using different methods, such as information, political, diplomatic and military ones,” the head of state said.
Journalists also asked whether the CSTO is going to act “as a clenched fist if, God forbid, something happens.” “All sides have their zones of responsibility. But if it bursts out in the zone where all our interests are concentrated, we will respond to these challenges together. It goes without doubt,” the president assured.
In his words, the participants of the session in Bishkek agreed that the member states of the organization should be closer to each other. They should state on the international arena that they will respond to certain things together. “There are local outbursts. For example, the zone of responsibility for Belarus and Russia is the western direction. Countries located in Central Asia are responsible for Central Asia with Russia’s support,” Aleksandr Lukashenko explained.
