MINSK, 19 March (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko had a telephone conversation with Russia President Vladimir Putin, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.
The Belarusian head of state once again congratulated the Russian leader on a convincing victory at the presidential election on 18 March. Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that the results of the election prove that the absolute majority of Russian citizens support the course to promote the development of the country and strengthen its influence on various processes in the international politics.
Alexander Lukashenko wished Vladimir Putin new significant achievements in his work and expressed confidence that the traditionally brotherly ties between the Belarusian and Russian nations will remain a reliable foundation in the relations of the two countries in the future, will help promote the development of mutually beneficial cooperation and prosperity.
The presidents also discussed the schedule of the future top-level contacts, the prospects of developing cooperation in integration formats. In particular, the agenda includes the session of the Supreme State Council of the Union State. The sides agreed that it will take place in Minsk, the agreement on the terms will be reached in a working mode.
The heads of state also discussed topical aspects of the Belarusian-Russian relations, issues of paramount importance, including in the Eurasian Economic Union where Russia is presiding in 2018. The presidents also mentioned the importance of stepping up efforts in this integration association, eliminating existing barriers and restrictions.
